I select my coffees randomly without rhyme or reason. However, once in a while, I’ll come across a name of a coffee that will remind me of a family member or friend. That was the case with café Don Monchito! I had a great uncle name Tio Moncho. He lived in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and had a beautiful house with a lovely garden. At his home, I had my first cup of Puerto Rican coffee. When I discovered this coffee during my search, I was excited to try it.
I ordered this coffee directly from their website at www.puertoricocoffeelove.com. The coffee was shipped from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. It took about seven days from the date of order. I purchased an 8oz bag. The package is dark brown with bold letters “DON MONCHITO.” The bean colors are a mixture of light and dark brown. The beans have a combination of a toasty and fruity aroma.
When I ground the beans, the fruity aroma was more intense. It is a medium roast coffee that is not heavy but bold. I had this coffee in all my usual styles, such as a mocha latte, vanilla latte, black with and without sugar, and espresso. The style that I enjoyed drinking the most was espresso. It has a tangy/fruity taste that my palate appreciated without milk. Don Monchito is the kind of café I wished I had my beloved mother to drink with while enjoying a good gossip LOL. Café Don Monchito is a coffee that I would add to my collection of repeats! I definitely recommend this coffee.
My rating with the highest being 5. Overall, I will rate this coffee a 3.5 – Delightfully Good coffee!
