I must say that I’m conflicted with my feelings about this coffee. I’ve had Alto Grande for the past 7 days – several times a day. In some ways, it reminds me of the coffee I had as a little girl but does not spark the same exciting emotions. When I opened the bag, the beans' aroma had a slight sweetness. But after grinding the beans, the aroma was more intense, and you could smell the sweetness of the caramel. It was my husband that immediately picked up the aroma of caramel.
We gathered in the kitchen, waiting for the water to boil and the milk to froth. I was eager to try this coffee in all the ways that I usually enjoy my coffee. Our first cup was with vanilla oat milk and sugar. The vanilla latte had great taste. The combination of vanilla with the caramel sweetness of the coffee was delicious. This has been my morning-style coffee for the past seven days. I used a Moka Pot to brew my espresso coffee in the afternoons. I drink it black with sugar. If you enjoy black coffee Alto Grande is not a heavy coffee; it is smooth and light. You can really taste the caramel sweetness when you drink it black. My least favorite was the mocha latte. I found the combination of the chocolate and caramel too sweet for my taste. I’m sure some sweet tooth coffee lovers may enjoy this style!
And now to tell you why I’m conflicted. I am not quite in love with Alto Grande. It did not stir my senses in the way that I would continue to drink it more than once a day or even after my 7-day tasting. It’s missing the taste and aroma that I found intoxicating (in an incredible way) in my first experience with coffee. Still, it was a good-tasting coffee. So, my coffee lovers, I will continue to search for that cup of coffee that I cannot live without! Stay tuned for the second coffee reveal scheduled for tomorrow!
I am not a coffee expert, just a coffee lover. This is solely my opinion.
