My Verdict is in for Cafe Yaucono!

Yaucono was an interesting coffee, and it is close to my heart. Yes, for sentimental reasons. Yaucono Coffee is a family favorite. My late father-in-law loved it, and my aunt always mentions it as her favorite coffee. And I have a friend that switched her former coffee brand to drink Yaucono. So, I will be cautious with my words, lol. However, I will remain true to my palate.

When I opened the package, it reminded me of my aunt and late father-in-law. Funny how you can associate personality traits and traditions to coffee. This coffee immediately sparked a conversation with my husband and I about habits, and experiences with coffee. We talked about the visits to his father and the afternoon coffee. His father was a habitual and traditional coffee drinker. After dinner, he would say, "Quien quiere cafe." My husband said as his father got older, coffee was his relaxation time to watch television. At 3 pm he would make his coffee and turn on the television to watch the news or Telemundo.

My husband and I talked about the psychology of coffee. Does coffee taste better when you drink it from a fancy cup? Is the experience visual or physical? Perhaps the atmosphere plays an important role. Would the coffee taste better in the mountains of Puerto Rico surrounded by the beauty of coffee trees and farmland?

I’ve had Yaucono in all the styles of coffee drinks that I enjoy. And for those that love this coffee, I tried to find the fascination. If I may say, the personality of some of those that I know that love this coffee are mellow and easy-going. But can also be heart strong and determine. It is the same way that I will describe this coffee. My truth is, that it is not quite for my palate, however its a coffee with a personality!

I am going to go a bit off track to say, do what brings you joy! Play a song that makes you sing out loud. Even when I am drinking coffee that is not quite appreciated by my palate, I make the best of it. Earlier this morning, I was playing songs by Al Jarreau. And boy, did my coffee taste divine. My favorite song by Al goes, "After all, after all, I will be the one to hold you…."

So, mi familia and friends, if you are serving Yaucono please remember that I will be there after all!

I will rate this coffee across all the different drinks a 3.0. It is a coffee I will only drink with family and friends.
